About Me
Hi, I'm Jack and I'm really glad you've found your way here. Taking that first step isn't always easy, and I want you to know that reaching out takes courage.
I've spent 19 years working in mental health, and over that time one thing has become very clear to me: people don't need to be fixed. They need the right conditions to let their own strengths come forward.
That's what I believe, and it's something I understand personally. I've experienced anxiety myself, and that journey is a big part of what drew me to Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy.
A personal meditation practice has been part of that journey too. Meditation and Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy share the same underlying principle. When the mind is calm and focused, we become more
resourceful, more clear-headed, and more capable of moving toward the life we want.
One naturally supports the other, and experiencing both has deepened my understanding of how real change happens.

My Approach
My approach is straightforward. Rather than digging into the past, we focus on where you want to be.
You already have a sense of what a better future looks like and my job is to help you connect with that and move toward it. Bringing anxiety down is always where we begin.
Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy is grounded in the science of how the brain works, and my background in Biological and Biomedical Sciences means I can say that with some confidence.
It also helps you make sense of why you feel the way you do, and a lot of people find that genuinely reassuring.

Anxiety & Low Mood
Anxiety and low mood often go hand in hand.
When one rises, the other tends to follow. SFH works by bringing anxiety down first. When the brain is calmer, mood lifts and everything else becomes more manageable.
Phobias
A phobia is an anxiety response attached to a specific trigger. The fear feels very real, even when you know rationally it isn't proportionate.
Simple phobias are addressed using a specific short protocol, typically around four sessions. For more complex phobias, we use our standard approach at a pace that suits you.
Sleep Issues
Poor sleep and anxiety feed each other. SFH addresses the anxiety driving poor sleep rather than targeting sleep in isolation.
Most clients find their sleep improves as their overall anxiety comes down.
Smoking/Vaping Cessation
Stopping is about more than willpower. The habit lives in the subconscious mind, which is exactly where hypnotherapy works.
I offer a focused two-session programme designed to help you stop for good.
Chronic Pain
Anxiety significantly amplifies the experience of pain. SFH can help by reducing the anxiety response and changing how the brain processes pain signals.

Weight management is rarely just about food. Stress, anxiety, and habits all play a role. SFH works with what's really going on underneath, and when the mind is calmer, making better choices becomes a lot more natural.
Online and Mobile Sessions
Sessions are available online via secure video link, anywhere in the UK. Working online means you can experience the full benefits of therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home. There's no need to travel, no rushing through traffic, and no fighting for parking spaces. This allows you to remain relaxed before and after your session. If you'd prefer face to face support, I also offer a mobile service, visiting you at home within a six mile radius of Bingley, outside of peak travel times. A small contribution to cover travel expenses may apply.

How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you're bringing to sessions. General issues such as anxiety, low mood, and sleep difficulties typically take between six and twelve sessions, though many people notice a difference sooner. General sessions are booked individually with no upfront commitment, so you progress at your own pace. Simple phobias are addressed through a fixed four-session package. Smoking and vaping cessation is a fixed two-session programme. We review progress regularly throughout our work together.
Does hypnotherapy actually work?
Yes — when the right approach is used and the client is ready to engage with it. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is grounded in well-established neuroscience and psychotherapy principles. I've seen it work consistently with clients, and I know from personal experience that it works. That said, it isn't a passive process. The most important factor in your progress is your own commitment to change.
Is online hypnotherapy as effective as face to face?
Yes. The hypnotic state is just as achievable online as it is in person, and many clients find that being in their own home actually helps them relax more deeply. Working online also means no travelling, no parking, and no rushing — you can remain calm before and after your session. What does it cost and how do I get started?
A free informal chat is available if you'd like to find out more before committing to anything. The initial consultation is £35 and lasts around 50 minutes. This session covers your background, what you'd like to achieve, and how Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works — it also includes a relaxation download to use between sessions. Standard sessions are £60, booked individually. A simple phobia programme is £210 for four sessions, and smoking or vaping cessation is £150 for two sessions. I hold a BSc in Biological and Biomedical Sciences and an MSc in Biomedical Science.
I trained in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy at the Solution Focused Training Academy (SFTA) and hold the SFHDip qualification.
I am a registered member of the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (APHP) and hold the LAPHP title.
I am Enhanced DBS checked and cleared for working with vulnerable adults and individuals (Certificate No: 001958092800).
I am fully registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO Reference: ZC051196).
